One on One Ukulele Lessons
I bring tons of enthusiasm and passion to every lesson, creating a relaxed environment where good posture, technique, and above all a beautiful tone come first. No matter your age, you will definitely stay motivated because I truly tailor the lessons to each student’s personal taste and interests.
Ukulele Workshops (Groups)
My daughter Merel and I host ukulele workshops for people of all ages. We have successfully led workshops at the Tong Tong Fair at the Malieveld in The Hague, in the Moluccan communities of Tiel, Elst, and Wierden, and at the Moluccan restaurant Havendorp in Vlissingen.
Merel sings a wonderful variety of songs that are perfect for the ukulele. Together, we will dive into learning and practicing basic chords (left hand) and rhythms (right hand) so you can get playing right away. By the end of the workshop, all participants will play together to accompany Merel’s singing. It is the ultimate musical interaction! In 2023, Merel performed as a special guest with the New Moluccan Guitars at the North Sea Jazz Festival.
Ukulele Coaching for Future Teachers (Elementary Education Students)
Music has been the center of my life for as long as I can remember. Now, I want to pass that passion on to the next generation of teachers. As an experienced guitarist and higher education instructor, I know exactly how to get students excited about music. At the conservatory, I help young talents find their own unique sound and I love bringing that same expertise to future elementary school teachers. As a professional guitarist, I know the instrument inside and out, and I bring that same joy and expertise to playing the ukulele. I love teaching students the foundational skills of these instruments so they can step in front of the classroom with absolute confidence. Collaboration is at the heart of everything I do, and I am always reflecting on my role within a team. Together, we can create inspiring music education for future teachers.
